Heart First Diagnostics
244 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Suite 203, Waterville
, 861-5646
You always come first at Inland, and now we’re proud to introduce a health and wellness program that puts your heart first, too. Heart First, a service of Inland Hospital, is Waterville’s Cardiac Connection – offering community preventive cardiology through the providers at Heart First Cardiology Associates, a full range of diagnostic services at
Heart First Diagnostics
and complete rehabilitation services at The Marden Cardiac Rehab Center, all under one roof. And, Heart First also provides seamless access to Eastern Maine Medical Center, should your heart need more specialized care.
If the doctor says it might be your heart, Heart First Diagnostics has all of the tests necessary to see just what might be wrong and how to fix it.
Heart First Services include:
Diagnosis and Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease
Exercise and pharmacologic stress testing with Nuclear and Echocardiographic imaging to diagnosis coronary artery disease
Coronary CT Angiography: Alternative to cardiac catheterization to determine presence and extent of coronary artery disease
Cardiac catheterization performed by Heart First Cardiologists: Defines coronary artery anatomy and determines treatment options
Heart First Cardiologists are the only specialists in Waterville and Augusta to use the Angioseal device after cardiac catheterization. This seals the hole in the artery and allows rapid ambulation and hospital discharge only two hours after cardiac catheterization.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiac Arrhythmias
Holter Monitoring and Event Monitoring: Continuous and as needed monitoring of heart rhythm to diagnose and treat specific cardiac arrhythmias
Pacemaker and Defibrillator monitoring clinic
Cardioversion: Medications followed by electrical shock to restore normal heart rhythm
Electrophysiology office consultations by Board-Certified specialists to evaluate and treat patients with disabling cardiac arrhythmias
Tilt Table Testing: Formal evaluation (available only in Central Maine at Inland Hospital) to evaluate causes of fainting
Diagnosis and Evaluation of All Cardiac Structures
Rest Echocardiographic Imaging: Provides evaluation of heart muscle function and heart valve anatomy
Transesophageal Echocardiography interpretation
Diagnosis and Treatment of Heart Failure
Impedance Cardiography: Simple noninvasive evaluation of cardiac hemodynamics, guides medication adjustments in patients with chronic heart, lung and kidney diseases
MUGA Scan: Quantifies heart function and volumes
Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP): Treatment for refractory chest pain and heart failure in patients with severe coronary artery disease
Connections to advanced cardiac care at EMMC
Heart First provides a direct link to the
Heart Center of Eastern Maine at Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC)
. Inland has advanced connections to EMMC’s critical care team, providing remote monitoring and expert consultation for hospitalized patients in Waterville. For patients needing more specialized care, EMMC’s Heart Center, just a short 45 minute drive north of Waterville in Bangor, is the only comprehensive heart center north of Lewiston, serving the entire two thirds of Maine.
Heart First has more connections...
The Marden Cardiac Rehab Center

Heart First Cardiologist Kevin White, MD, FACC encourages his patients to participate in the program. “
