United Way Honors Inland

Inland Hospital was one of several Waterville area businesses recognized by the United Way of Mid-Maine for outstanding campaign contributions. Inland and Lakewood employees raised more than $24,000 in the annual United Way Employee Campaign in 2016. Hope Pendexter, RN, Inland’s employee campaign co-chair and John Dalton, Inland President accepted the award at the United Way’s Mad Hatter Gala and Auction event on December 15. Hope is also a member of United Way’s 2016 Campaign Cabinet. Congratulations to everyone for this Campaign Excellence Award, and for helping us make a difference in our community!

Inland Awarded Tobacco-Free Hospital Award

Inland Hospital has been awarded a Gold Star in the Breathe Easy Coalition’s annual Maine Tobacco-Free Hospital Network awards. The award is in recognition of organizational dedication to excellence in healthcare through addressing tobacco use and smoke exposure by implementing best practice tobacco-free policies and procedures.
 
Hope Pendexter, RN, Inland’s Employee Health Nurse accepted the award for Inland during a recent awards ceremony at the Maine Hospital Association.

Inland Hospital Earns Another "A" Grade from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Inland Hospital earned another “A” grade in the Fall 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade announced today. Inland is among only 72 hospitals nationwide to have earned straight A’s since the grading program began in 2012! Leapfrog assigned A, B, C, D and F letter grades to 2,633 U.S. hospitals. 844 earned an “A,” 658 earned a “B,” 954 earned a “C,” 157 earned a “D” and 20 earned an “F.”

Inland Rated Four Stars in CMS Hospital Quality Program

Inland Hospital is pleased to announce that it has earned a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its new “Star” quality rating system just released.  The star program scores overall hospital quality and is published on the CMS Hospital Compare website. The website has always provided hospital quality data, but now it will score seven areas of care into one star rating with five-stars as the best. The goal is to offer consumers easier methods to evaluate healthcare services. Inland supports these efforts as part of our continuing practice of transparency with the community we serve.

EMHS Hospitals are Most Wired for 2016: Most Wired Hospitals Use Tech for a Better Patient Experience

Technology is improving the efficiency of care delivery and creating a new dynamic in patient interactions, according to results of the 18th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, released earlier this week by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum. Of the eleven hospitals and healthcare systems recognized in Maine, nine of them represented EMHS.

This is the seventh consecutive year that EMHS member hospitals have been recognized as part of the Most Wired list that measures integration of technology for healthcare delivery.

Inland Women’s Health Care Awarded for Excellence in Patient Safety

First in Maine to receive special certification

Inland Women’s Health Care, an obstetrics and gynecology practice in Waterville, is the first OB/GYN practice in Maine, and the tri-state region (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont) to earn a special safety certification. The practice has been awarded the “Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence” (SCOPE) for Women’s Health. SCOPE is a patient safety focused program of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Inland Hospital has done it again – earning an "A" grade Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrog Group. This award recognizes hospitals for their dedication to patient safety and rates how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.

Since the Hospital Safety Score program’s launch in June 2012, Inland has been recognized as a “Straight A’s” hospital for receiving an “A” grade every time since the program’s inception in 2012 – one of only 98 hospitals nationwide to earn the “Straight A’s” recognition of 2,600 hospitals assessed!

As a member of EMHS, Inland Hospital is committed to improving the health of the communities we serve. Our Community Benefit grant program is designed to help address priority health issues facing local communities by expanding partnerships and use of evidence-informed prevention practices. Inland Hospital is seeking proposals that measurably impact one of these priority health issues: obesity; substance abuse; mental health; poverty/economic opportunity; or oral health as identified in our 2015 Shared Community Health Needs Assessment (Shared CHNA). Approximately four awards will be made; applicants may request up to $5,000 for projects to be completed by December 30, 2016.
