Inland primary care practices recognized for excellence!

Release Date: 04/19/2016

Inland is proud to share that our primary care practices (Inland Family Care and Inland Medical Associates) were highlighted for excellence in a recent Consumer Reports magazine article, How does your doctor compare?”.

Special congratulations to two of our Inland Family Care practices that were recognized for Top Care - kudos to the Washington Street practice with providers Jim Douglas, DO, Tara Dwelley, NP-C, and Bridgett Fisher, FNP -- and the Oakland practice with providers Henry Glover, DO and Holly Desmarais, D-FNP-C! They were among only three practices in Maine recognized for the Top Care designation. Top Care is defined as having the highest performance in three areas of care: diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. The ratings apply to groups of providers in order to get more data and statistically meaningful results.

The article also noted that seven other Inland primary care practices rated very well! For example, Inland Medical Associates rated tops in two of the three areas, but did not have a rating in the heart disease section because they did not have the minimum number of heart patients to meet eligibility. Inland Family Care-Three Rivers was not included in the report because of technical problems related to its transition to the Inland electronic medical record. Our analysis shows it reached the same high standards as our other practices.

Congratulations to our practices for this well-deserved national attention!

The Maine ratings noted in the article come from the Maine Health Management Coalition which publishes www.getbettermaine.org. Maine’s ratings focus on how well providers treat three of the most common health problems - diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. The Consumer Reports article also shares tips on using doctor ratings and how they are determined, as well as steps to working better with your provider.
