The sleep center offers diagnosis and treatment for patients with sleep-related disorders, including insomnia, sleep apnea, excessive snoring and sleep disturbances.
Our comprehensive sleep study lab has technical expertise from Inland's sister hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center and its Sleep Center of Maine in partnership with Penobscot Respiratory. The Sleep Center of Maine is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and plans are underway to extend SCOM's accreditation to the Sleep Diaganostics Center of Inland. This service is made possible thanks to Inland's affiliation in the Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems network.
Sleep disorder evaluations are conducted at the sleep lab by Inland's CardioPulmonary staff, which is trained in polysomnography (sleep examination). The tests are scored by registered sleep technicians at the Sleep Diagnostics Center of Inland Hospital. The results will be interpreted by Thomas Kandra, M.D. and Thomas Rajan, M.D. and their staff at Penobscot Respiratory. Dr. Kandra and Dr. Rajan are Pulmonologists who are board certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Kandra is the Medical Director of EMMC's Sleep Center of Maine and has 12 years of experience in the sleep disorder field. Dr. Rajan is board certified in internal, pulmonary, and critical care medicine.
